A silver print of "Biscot and Blanche Norel" circa 1910 at t - Lot 305
A silver print of "Biscot and Blanche Norel" circa 1910 at the Gaité Rochechouart café-concert, 12 x 9 cm. Georges Biscot (real name Gaston Georges Bouzac, 1886–1944): An eccentric singer and popular comedian. At that time, he became one of the leading figures and a true idol of the Gaîté-Rochechouart stage thanks to his facial expressions and clownish antics, before going on to have a successful career in silent film (notably working with Louis Feuillade). Blanche Norel: An actress and comic performer on the Parisian stages of the time. She notably inspired the Impressionist painter Henri Lebasque, who created his famous painting *Portrait of Blanche Norel* around 1910. La Gaîté-Rochechouart: Located at 15 Boulevard de Rochechouart in Paris, this venue was a very popular café-concert and music hall where theatrical revues, comedy acts, mime songs, and various attractions were performed one after another. Around 1910, the two artists regularly shared the bill there or performed together in highly successful local revues.
